Sarah Hurley Anything But a Card Notebook

Good evening everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with my DT project for our 'Anything but a Card' challenge at Sarah Hurley Challenges :-) I made a notebook using my favourite Sarah Hurley kit of the moment-I love Paris available here at Sarah's super new shop! I printed the papers and elements onto Canvas paper and then glued them on a notebook to alter it. I then varnished the whole thing to keep it life proof! :-)

Butterflies Mobile Phone Case

Good evening everyone, so here is my first ever sewing project! Its taken me a long time to get into machine sewing properly-I had a dragon of a textiles teacher at school and she seriously put me off using a sewing machine much so I always had a fear. I am so glad I have been brave though because I am really enjoying it, and its so much easier than it looks! :-)
I got a new phone recently and wanted to make a padded case for it to protect its pretty screen from the perils of life and handbags! I couldnt find a pattern for any cases I liked online so I made my own and here is the result. Haha can you tell why I chose this fabric?! ;-)
I made the button hole using the same material.

I wanted my button to be a feature so I chose a pretty purple button that matched the teasels in the print of the material and used strong silver thread to sew it on.
I made a little pocket for my earphones in case I want to take them with me-I dont like them getting tangled up with everything so thought this would be a useful feature :-)
You can see the padding and I have sewn the top seam using invisible stitches.
For this project I used a fat square of fabric, cotton batting, thread, button and a sewing machine :-)
What do you think?

Art Deco Lots of Love

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) I am sorry I have been quiet recently-but I am really quite excited because I have been teaching myself how to machine sew and I will soon have some little projects to show you all what ive been up to! I am her with a card made using the Papermania Art Deco collection. I chose my image and placed it on a black glitter card mat, then added complimenting papers behind it. I then added a border to one side and a matching tag which I also backed with the same glitter card and placed on 3D foam squares. I then added gems on the top of the tag.

Family Tree Project Part Seven

Hey everyone, hope you are well :-) Here I am with another page from my Family Tree scrapbook project, as you can tell I am really enjoying doing this! I inherited these photos from my grandmother and have been copying over the photos and improving them with photo software, then backing them up on a hard drive just in case something awful happened to the originals and to stop them deteriorating further with time. I chose the chipboard sentiment for this page because I love the smile Trevor has on his face while playing, its just a lovely moment in time :-) I used Basic Grey kit to match the distressed photos :-)

CAS Snowflakes in Pearlescent Pinks

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) Here I am with something way out of my comfort zone but something I am quite pleased with all the same. I find CAS styles quite difficult but with my resolution to challenge myself this year I am really pushing myself! I embossed the snowflakes directly on the card blank, then used a pearlescent pink ink smudged over them randomly to finish.

Lovely as a Tree Watercolour Card

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with something a little different. I was given this 'Lovely as a Tree' set by Stampin' Up for Christmas and thought I would play with some different mediums to give me some different textures and effects for my cards. I stamped the image on watercolour paper using Stazon. I then coloured them with watercolour pencils and then added water to encourage the sky to bleed into each other like a real sunset. I cut round this with a nestie and embossed it. I placed this on foam pads for some dimension and used Dovecraft Garden party papers as my base.

Family Tree Project Part Six

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with part four of my Family tree project. If you havent seen my previous posts basically my grandparents left me a few albums of family going back to the Victorian era so I have decided to make a family heirloom of a scrapbook of our family tree. Its incredibly rewarding and fun to see the resemblances and change in fashions!
This page is of William who had sent this photo from France-I scanned and copied both the photo and the cute little message he wrote on the reverse because I felt this was a huge part of the story to this photo. Its dated 8th November 1916 so not far off a hundred years ago-bet he had no clue his photo would still be treasured now :-) I used a Basic Grey kit for this project because the vintage look to the papers really lends itself well to the whole idea of the project and fits with the battered old photos! :-)

Rose Quartz and Lapis Lazuli Heart Bracelet

Good evening everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with something really different for me-its my new years resolution to try my hand at different crafts and so I decided to play with some jewellery making. I love Semi precious crystal jewellery so this felt like a natural progression for me-if I make my own then I can make it to the size of my wrist (I have tiny wrists so always end up with baggy jewellery!). For this bracelet I used Rose Quartz and Lapis Lazuli stones, spacer beads, bead caps and a heart toggle. I find these toggles are the easiest because you can easily put the bracelet on yourself :-)

While I am here I will just give you a heads up-Crafty Ribbons are having a Ribbon Snow sale which is well worth a peek!

Crafty Ribbons Challenge 37 Love/Romance/Anniversary

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) I am here with my DT project for our Love/Romance/Anniversary challenge at Crafty Ribbons. I chose to make a gift for someone loved-lets face it all us ladies like a gift of jewellery! :-) I used Tri Stripe Ribbon in Cypress found in the Crafty Ribbons store here. I chose this ribbon because when I weaved it through my chain (from a necklace I bought in a charity shop and took apart!) you would get flashes of the different colours which adds interest :-) A simple project but I think it looks really effective and I would be happy to receive it! What do you think?

Family Tree Project Part Four

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) Here I am with the next page of my Family Tree project. In case you havent seen my previous posts basically my grandparents left me lots of family photos going back to the Victorian era so I have been making a scrapbook of them as an heirloom and to get to know my family-its so much fun and very rewarding! I used Basic grey kit as the vintage shabby chic look really compliments the old photos I have to work with :-)

Stampin Up Sail Away!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) Sorry I have been quiet on the blogging front, have been creating and so I will have lots to show you over the next few weeks-hopefully my crafty inspiration will hold out! :-)
I am here to show you a card using some of my fabulous Christmas gifts I have been playing with and some old stash too! I was given this gorgeous 'Sail away' stamp by Stampin Up and just couldnt wait to use it! I was digging through my old art stash-I used to do a lot of art before I got into crafting and discovered some watercolour pencils I bought in France about eight years ago and thought they would be perfect to play with along with this image! I stamped the image with Stazon on watercolour paper and cut around this with a nestie. I coloured my image then activated this with water. I was really pleased with the look it gave me. I then chose the Tim Holtz distress paper because the swirls and patterns really looked like waves so worked perfectly with my image! I added some jute and buttons from my stash which I threaded with bakers twine to give the sewn look. I then added a 'Thinking of you' dome greeting.

Family Tree Scrapbook Part Three

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are well :-) As Christmas is over I am starting to pick up the projects I had postponed to get my Christmas crafting done! I have blogged a couple of pages of this project before but here is the story-I inherited photos of my family going back from Victorian era onwards and I decided it would be really nice to create a posh scrapbook with a record of my family with details of who is who for a family heirloom. This has to be one of the most rewarding and fun projects I have ever started-its lovely to be able to see the family resemblance and to get to 'know' the family I never met.
I used a Basic Grey kit for this project-I chose this because it has a wonderfully distressed but pretty quality which suits this sort of scrapbook. I have scanned all my family photos and have rescued some which were fading with age by improving them with photo software-I really recommend those of you who have photos of this age that you do this-it also gives you a chance to 'back up' these photos so should anything happen to the originals they wont be lost forever.

I used a Black tall card which is unusual for me but I fancied a change and it suited the lovely little bumble bee I made the project around!
I used Sarah Hurley's English Country Garden kit with elements from the Fairyland CD both available at Sarah's etsy store here. I drew faux stitching with gold glitter pen, gems and American Crafts Polka dot ribbon to finish my card :-)

Crafty Ribbons 'New Beginnings'

Good evening everyone, hope you are well! I swear today has just flown by, so sorry this is a little late. First of all I want to wish you all a fantastic New Year, I really do value each and every one of my followers and the support you give to me and my little blog in blogland-it means a lot!
It is our new challenge at Crafty Ribbons Challenge where our theme is 'New Beginnings'-so perfect for the start of a New Year :-) I decided to make a series of canvases to decorate the home with-pretty new art for a pretty New Year! I used beach themed ribbons from Crafty Ribbons Store as my base then chose three of my favourite ever photos of beaches or holidays which I printed on canvas. I painted my canvas with a complimenting blue colour and glued the ribbons and canvas as I liked them. I'd love to know what you think?!

While I am here I have some very exciting news-a few months ago I was asked to submit a project to Craft Stamper magazine and my lovely DT friend Jaine told me yesterday that I have made the cover!
