Craft my life

Hey everyone, hope you are well! I am here with a present I made for my uncle's special birthday-and after visiting today I was very pleased to see it has pride of place in their lounge!
I used a real slate heart and stampin' up stamp which I embossed with white embossing powder. A very simple but effective way to decorate plain slate-although it does get hot so careful not to touch for a while!

Hey everyone, I hope you are well :) I am here with a project I really have fallen in love with :) I won some printable cotton from crafty computer paper a little while ago and I wanted to think of different ways to use it.
I started with a box frame, some unbleached cotton, printable cotton, cardstock, glue and vintage images of butterflies.

I printed the butterflies onto a sheet of printable cotton, and then a second the same size onto cardstock. I cut around the fabric butterflies and then mounted them onto cardstock to make the dimensional look I wanted possible. I then folded these cotton butterflies wings and glued them onto the printed butterfly below.
As I waited for them to dry I used the paper insert that came with the frame to cut out a cardboard mount. I then covered this with the unbleached cotton.
Lastly I placed the butterflies where I was happy on the unbleached cotton mount and placed inside the frame.

Hey everyone, hope you are well! I am here with something that I am truly proud of which I created to decorate my new room.
Over the years I have taken hundreds of photos of butterflies-it is my other passion in life besides crafting and something I enjoy immensely. I thought it was a shame that many of these photos are hidden inside scrapbooks and external hard drives not getting every day use and I wanted a way to display some of my progress in a way to nod to the theme of my new room.

I bought a canvas that would fit in the space between my (handmade too!) four poster bed and my (handmade) headboard. (I may link these projects later, if so will link to the relevant posts)

I had plenty of printable canvas, glue, my photos and serif Craft Artist 2 software to use. I wanted the canvas to look really special so I decided each butterfly photo would be digitally placed into various frames I have within the software either from the kits or from free vintage frames from The Graphics Fairy…

Hey everyone, I hope you are well! I am here to show you the headboard we made for my newly decorated bedroom. I wanted a silver coloured plain headboard so I began to look for the material I felt would compliment my new decor.

I actually found a terrific bargain! I found a silver quilted patterned bedspread in Asda's sale for £5! We made the headboard from some wood, thick foam and this material. We have the foam on a strip of thin wood with the fabric stapled on with a large DIY stapler then thicker wooden struts to affix the headboard to the wall. It was incredibly easy, secure and we can easily switch out the fabric when I decide I want a change!

Hey everyone, I am here with a special scrapbook I created for my Cousins 30th birthday. I wanted to make her something really special because she gave me a really thoughtful butterfly themed gift for my birthday.

I used My Minds Eye paper and kit, Papermania bare basics scrapbook, eyelets, various embellishments, cardstock, pink ink to smudge onto the edges of the pages and ribbons.

I wanted her to have the opportunity to put her own photos inside to make it even more special for her. She is getting married this year so I thought a love themed would suit well! I added little post its to illustrate how big the photos she uses should be. Her other half is also crafty so I think she may take over in organising the photos into the right sizes! :)

Good evening everyone. I am here with a project I made for my male best friend who loves bikes. Sometimes it can be hard to create for men but I really enjoyed making this :)

I started with a small plain canvas, wooden bike embellishments, printable canvas, texture paste, stencils, spray inks, water, some clear stamps, embossing powder and stazon.

I began by gluing strips of torn paper for a mixture of textures on the plain canvas. I let this dry.

Next I started stamping onto the canvas with stazon-I used some texture stamps and also some 'sewing stitches' stamps. Because of the different levels on the canvas it gave the wonderful 'messy' look I was imagining.

I then got out my spray inks and water and spritzed over the canvas-in some areas rubbing the colour into the canvas and in others leaving the 'spray' look of the ink. I did this in stages to get good coverage until I was happy.

I want to share a project that is very close to my heart. Recently my Nan turned 80 and I wanted to make her something really special-we are very close and there is just not enough I can do to show her how much I love and appreciate her.

I told her I wanted to take a look at her family photos in order to rescue and restore them for the future-making digital copies would also allow me to share them with everyone in the family so we make sure that they are safe in many hands!

She gave me a huge bag of photos-over 100 years or more-because she had some of her parents family photos too. Obviously being that old they required some restoration so as I scanned them into my computer I used Photoshop to restore them digitally and it was wonderful to watch some photos which were almost completely ruined turn into *almost* perfect again.
